Families in Wednesbury who are worried about getting snowed under by the cost of Christmas this year are being invited to a series of budgeting workshops.
Health for Living’s Friar Park Children’s Centre in Dorsett Road will host the free sessions every Thursday from 12pm-1pm for four weeks from next Thursday (10 October).
The workshops will focus on how parents can learn to make Christmas affordable, including information on managing money and getting the best deals.
There will also be information on how families can borrow money safely, if needed, without having to resort to loan sharks and pay day lenders.
Louise Hudson, Support Services Manager at the Friar Park Children’s Centre, said: “We are hoping that parents will come along to the sessions to learn how to cut the cost of their Christmas this year.
“We are going to make the group fun and informative so that they know where to search for the best deals, safe online shopping websites and how to borrow safely if needed.”
Friar Park Children’s Centre is managed by Health for Living, a partnership between the Accord Group, Black Country Housing Group, Murray Hall Community Trust and The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, in association with charity Family Action.
The centre provides a range of services for children and families, from crèche facilities and play-groups to family health clinics and work clubs.
