Budding Mary Berrys at a Sandwell children’s centre will battle it out against each other by hosting a Great British Bake Off-inspired cake sale to raise money for Comic Relief.
Staff at the Friar Park Children’s Centre, Priory Family Nursery and Priory Primary School in Wednesbury, are setting up three teams to sell a range of delicious treats in aid of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.
Their efforts will be judged by the families who use the centre, which provides a range of activities and events focussed on health and wellbeing for local people.
The sale will be held at the Dorsett Road centre, which is managed by Health for Living and charity Family Action, on Tuesday, 12 March, from 10am to 2pm.
Louise Hudson, Support Services Manager at the children’s centre, said: “We hope to raise lots of money for Comic Relief and have plenty of fun doing it.
“I’m sure the families who come into the children’s centre on the day will buy some of the lovely cakes for this good cause. Staff are getting really excited and are planning their red nose ‘show-stopper’ cakes already.”
Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day will take place on Friday, 15 March and all money raised will help to change the lives of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa.
Friar Park Children’s Centre is managed by Health for Living, a partnership between the Accord Group, Black Country Housing Group, Murray Hall Community Trust and The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, in association with charity Family Action.
It provides a range of services for children and families, from crèche facilities and play groups to family health clinics and work clubs.
